A special meeting was held May 25, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. at the Middlebury Township Hall 7627 West M-21 Ovid, Michigan 48866 to approve ballot language for the Ovid-Middlebury Emergency Services Millage Renewal. Board members present were Supervisor Anthony Sinicropi, Clerk Audrey Sovis, Treasurer Carolyn Stevens, and Trustees Charles Simpson and Paul Dutton. Deputy Supervisor Richard Givens was also present. There were no other visitors. Givens gave the board an update on the work that Dutton had done to make sure the board had the correct legal language needed for the board to approve. The board had copies of ballot language from MTA and OMES. After determining that both proposals were legally sound, there was discussion regarding language clarity for the benefit of the average voter. It was moved by Stevens, seconded by Dutton that the board approve the original language proposed by the OMES with the addition of a short summary line prior to the body of the proposal; roll call vote: Sinicropi aye, Stevens aye, Simpson aye, Dutton aye, Sovis aye, no nays, none absent, carried. At 5:40 p.m. a motion was made by Sovis, seconded by Dutton to adjourn; all ayes, no nays, carried.
