DRAFT Thursday May 10, 2007 at 7:00pm the regular Township Board Meeting was held at the Ovid Village Hall. Sinicropi called the meeting to order with the pledge to the flag. Simpson gave the prayer. Six visitors were present. Board members present were Supervisor Anthony Sinicropi, Clerk Cindy Dennison, Treasurer Carolyn Stevens, and Trustees Paul Dutton and Charles Simpson. Scheduled Comments: Deputy Craig Lawson came and talked about the 911 events in the township. There were 117 events in the township 75 being traffic stops. Sinicropi said Dan Stewart called and said he couldnít make our meeting. Stewart told Sinicropi there wasnít much from the county commissioners at this time. Sinicropi reported that Rep. Ball doesnít think anything will come of the legislation that is trying to be brought to the State about taking over townships. We will be kept updated. Public Comment: Justin Horvath from the Shiawassee Chamber of Commerce spoke about the Shiawassee Economic Development Plan. He told the board that Shiawassee County getting some new business and it is helping the county economy. The Ethenol Plant and ground breaking should take place this summer. The SEDP is going to all the Shiawassee townships again to try and get more townships to become partners with SEDP. There was some discussion on what SEDP does for townships like ours. He will get us some statistics. Sinicropi addressed the board; we have three options dealing with the SEDP. 1) Not be a partner anymore. 2) Give the $500.00 and continue to support the SEDP. 3) Table it. Sinicropi, Dutton and Simpson continue to pay the dues, Stevens and Dennison table it. Dutton made a motioned to pay the $500.00 to the SEDP, seconded by Simpson. Roll call vote was taken. Sinicropi aye, Stevens nay, Dennison nay, Dutton aye, Simpson aye. Three ayes, two nays. Motion carried. General Business: Motion made by Simpson, seconded by Dutton to approve the agenda, all ayes, no nays, motion carried. Motion was made by Dutton, seconded by Simpson to approve the minutes of April 12, 2007 with the correction of date 2009 to 2007, all ayes, no nays, motion carried. Motion made by Stevens seconded by Dennison to approve the treasurers report, all ayes, no nays, motion carried. A motion was made by Sinicropi, seconded by Dennison to pay the May bills in the amount of $2149.95 (checks 1889 - 1904), all ayes, no nays, motion carried. Unfinished Business: A Public hearing will take place on May 23,2007 at 7:00pm in Corunna on the Patter Zoning Ordinance. New Business: A motion was made by Sinicropi, seconded be Stevens to allow the township Planning Commission to purchase a copier for not more the $250.00, all ayes, no nays, motion carried. A motion was made by Dutton, seconded by Stevens to okay our Supervisor to sign the Culvert Agreements with the road commission for $2300.00 to replace two culverts on Mason Rd., all ayes, no nays, motion carried. Final Comment: Supervisor Sincropi brought up a resident’s concern about a dig problem. Will get a bid for clean out. There were some complaints on foundations in the cemetery. Sexton has been very busy and will get to the foundations. Dennison brought up the Boy Scouts, they would like to know if township has any projects for Eagle Scout? Dennison will get with Ms. Hehrer and tell her to contact Deputy Givens. A motion was made by Stevens, seconded by Sinicropi to adjourn out meeting at 9:10pm, all ayes, no nays, motion carried.
