Middlebury Township Board Minutes Draft Minutes Middlebury Township Board Regular Meeting Wednesday, December 12, 2012 7pm Middlebury Township Hall 7627 W. M-21 Ovid, Michigan 48866 Minutes Supervisor Michael Herendeen called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm with a prayer led by Richard Semans. Call To Order Members Present: Supervisor Herendeen, Clerk Susan Roll Call Tomasek-Swan, Treasurer Carolyn Stevens, Trustee Rich Givens and Trustee Gary Kiger. Guest Present: Eight guests were present. Among the guests were Arlene Pesik, Richard Semans, Bob Dennison, Doug Krebiehl, Steve Potts, Lynn Givens and Mike and Diane Dowler. Scheduled Comments: Scheduled Comments None Public Comments Opened7:04 Closed 7:05 Moved by Stevens seconded by Givens to approve the agenda as presented. Motion to Approve Agenda AYE: All NO: none CARRIED AGENDA APPROVED Moved by Givens and seconded Stevens to approve the minutes of the November 14, 2012 meeting as written. Minutes Approved AYE: All 14-Nov-12 NO: none CARRIED Moved by Stevens and seconded Tomasek-Swan to pay bills in an amount of with checks numbered 3223-3239 and 2 EFT for a total of $5,468.68. Bills Payment Approved AYE: All NO: none CARRIED Communications Tomasek Swan discussed the lease option of the new printer the board approved to purchase in November's board meeting. The copier has been received and is working properly. Due to having a higher quality copier/printer a discussion of putting together a pricing policy for copies. Information will be gathered and the policy revisited in January. Clerk Tomasek Swan announced there will be a school election on February 26, 2013. None Unfinished Business New Business Resolution 2012-07: Adoption of Middlebury Township Meeting Calendar. Roll call vote: Yes: Kiger T_S Herendeen Stevens Givens Yes: Kiger, Tomasek-Swan, Herendeen, Stevens and Givens Nay: None Carried Mice issue: Givens suggested an electronic device that emits a sound to keep the mice out. Bob Dennison suggested the same idea but using a large box or even two boxes. Clerk Tomasek Swan will get the information from Bob Dennison and purchase the devices. Discussion of the appointments of the different boards. Planning Commission Board: A motion was made by Herendeen and supported by Stevens to appoint Richard Givens to replace Erin Dutton on the Planning Commission Board. Yes: All Nay: None Carried Maple Grove Cemetery Board: A motion was made by Herendeen to appoint Richard Givens to replace Carolyn Stevens on the Maple Grove Cemetery Board. Yes: All Nay: None Carried OMESA Board: Herendeen made a motion to keep the Middlebury present representatives on the board. Givens seconded the motion. Yes: All Nay: None Carried Board of Review: Will be tabled until January's meeting. Park and Recreation Board: A motion made by Herendeen and seconded by Stevens to appoint Gary Kiger to the Park and Recreation board. Yes: All Nay: None Carried Library Board: A motion made by Herendeen and seconded by Stevens to keep the representative at present on the library board. Yes: All Nay: None Carried Supervisor Herendeen announced Anthony Sinicropi as his Deputy Supervisor. Omega payments: Treasurer Stevens discussed going back to paying the tax dollars collected as the money comes to the township verses our present method of holding the money in escrow and cutting a monthly check. Herendeen stated he would like to wait and felt it should stay in escrow. Treasurer Stevens also brought up the $5.00 per capita every fiscal year appropriated to OMESA ( Ovid-Middlebury Emergency Service Association).Herendeen wasn't opposed to the idea but feels OMESA should make a request for the funds. Supervisor Herendeen attended a Road Commission meeting regarding recommendations for road improvements for the 2013 year and presented the board with the information. The Shiawassee Road Commission Board representatives will be attending the township's February 13, 2013 meeting. Doug Krebiehl reminded the board about dirt from the gradall's project being used to raise the back section of the cemetery.
