the
board

the

updated
the
board

issues
being
discussed
by
the
County
Commission
Board.
Some
of
the
issues
that
will
be
headed
 for
the
August
primary
ballot
are
as
follows:

Headlee’s
override,
presently
at
5.41
mils
to
be
placed
back
 to
5.555
mils
and
Shiawassee
County
on
Aging
(SCOA)
proposed
millage
raise
from
.25
to
.5.

 Hartmann
Aue,
candidate
for
the
County
Commissioner
District
1
reviewed
his
educational
background
 and
experience
that
he
feels
makes
him
qualified
for
the
position.
 Brent
Jones,
Shiawassee
Economic
Development
Partnership
(SEDP)
came
to
update
the
board
on
the
 new
development
in
Shiawassee
County.
The
Blue
Grass
Tank
which
makes
food
grade
tanks
to
move
 food
on
big
trucks
is
the
newest
business
in
Shiawassee
County.
They
are
hiring
people
right
now.

asked
about
the
addition
to
the
hall
that
was
discussed
in
April’s
meeting.
Trustee
Givens
 explained
it
was
a
cover
area
to
keep
voters
dry
if
there
was
a
line.
He
also
asked
about
the
property
on
 M21
because
it
is
filling
up
with
junk
again.
Trustee
Givens
have
not
heard
from
the
county
whether
the
 property
owners
have
responded
to
the
letter
sent
to
them.
Trustee
Givens
is
also
working
a
junk
 removal
with
a
piece
of
property
on
Warren
Rd
and
he
continued
saying
both
properties
are
low
on
the
 county’s
list.
The
issues
with
the
properties
could
be
pass
it
to
the
county
health
department
if
there
are
 health
hazards
involved.

planning
on
building
 roofs
over

dugout
and
realigning
the
bases.
 OMESA
representative,
Dick
Semans
says
there
have
been
a
few
grass
fires.
The
OMESA
meeting
has
 been
changed
to
May
21
due
to
Memorial
Day.
There
was
a
training
burn.
The
OMESA
board
is
still
 waiting
for
action
to
be
able
to
move
the
access
drive
to
the
cell
tower;
the
gate
will
need
to
be
cut
and
 the
fiber
optic
cable
needs
to
be
moved
to
create
the
new
driveway.

Commission
Meeting
is
June
12th
2014
at
7:30
pm.

attended
the
May’s
MTA
meeting.
The
meeting
was
at
Bennington
Township.
 
Business:

 Supervisor
Herendeen
stated
that
Dean
Welte
is
scheduling
road
brining
but
no
Brine
Contracts
have
 been
presented
to
him
or
the
board.
Supervisor
Herendeen
wants
to
know
what
the
board
wants
to
do
 with
the
brining.Trustee
Givens
refreshed
Herendeen
memory
on
what
the
board
approved.
The
motion
 was
to
authorize
the
Supervisor
to
sign
all
road
contracts.
Trustee
Givens
felt
it
may
have
been
only
the
 contracts
in
front
of
Herendeen
Trustee
Givens
made
a
motion
to
have
the
Supervisor
have
authority
 to
sign
the
Brine
contract
up
to
the
amount
$18,000.00.
