M-21, Ovid, MI 48866 Monday August 7, 2023 at 7:00 pm SPECIAL MEETING Call to Order: Supervisor Swan called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Board Members Present: Supervisor Jeffery Swan, Clerk Susan Tomasek Swan, Treasurer Jill Ruess, Trustee Greg Atwood and Trustee Gene Ruess Guests Present: Guests were present: Shawn Dilts, Deputy Clerk; Public Comments: Opened at 7:00 pm Closed at 7:00 pm None Motion to Approve Agenda: Clerk Susan Tomasek-Sawn made a motion to approve agenda as amended (striking scheduled speaker). Trustee Greg Atwood seconded the motion. Voice Vote: Ayes: All Nays None Carried Business: 1. Early Voting- County clerks meeting held on 7/27/2023 to discuss the early voting requirements and discussion of plans. Minutes for that meeting provided. The county is exploring the option of having centralized county wide early voting. This can only occur if all cities and townships agree to this option. Cost break-down was computed for the township if done individually. If all the municipalities agree to centralized early voting the cost of the equipment, supplies and staffing would be shared/divided between all municipalities in the county. Township clerk reviewed the estimated costs for our township if we completed in our township. The county has not provided the estimated costs for each municipality if it is centralized. Supervisor Swan made a motion to have Shiawassee County conduct the 9 days of early voting as required by Proposal 2022-2, MCL 168.720a.
