Justin Horvath- Here to support Rex Wheeler with the Owosso speedway, spoke about grants for local townships. If the township would like to reach out they would be willing to help see what is available. Motion to Approve Agenda: Jill Ruess made a motion to approve agenda. Geno Ruess seconded the motion. Voice Vote: Ayes: All Nays None Carried Motion to Approve Minutes: Jill Ruess made a motion approve the January 2025 meeting minutes. Jamie Aldrich seconded the motion. Voice Vote: Ayes: All Nays: None Carried Motion to approve Bills Jill Ruess made a motion to approve bills from General Fund ck# 6309-6325 $21,344.69 and EFT’S $5,615.04 For a total amount $26,959.73. Jamie Aldrich seconded the motion. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Jill Ruess, Jamie Aldrich, Michael Herendeen, Gene Ruess, Powell- Absent. Nays: none, motion carried Communications: MTA- Remove, no scheduled meetings on the books. Library- Looking into getting quotes for the IT updates needed. OMESA- Sold old ambulance. Bought new truck for fire rescue. Clerk- Shiawassee county directory update for Caroline Wilson. Please let Jamie know if something needs to be updated. Assessor-Absent Treasurer- Bank Statements all balanced. Business: Business: 1. Board of Review scheduled for 3/11/2025 from 9am-3pm and 3/12/2025 from 3pm- 9pm at the township hall. Notice was in paper on Sunday for this-posted by assessor’s office . 2. MBOR organizational meeting will be held 3/4/2025 at noon at the township hall. 3. Budget meeting, do we want to have this on March 11" at 6:45? Yes we will schedule this for prior to the next meeting. Herendeen said he would like to get together with Jamie to prepare budget. This will be posted in the paper. Michael made a motion to have a budget meeting on March 11" at 6:45 Jill Ruess second the motion. Rex Wheeler is asking the board to approve his tavern license and on premises retail license and permit application. Mr. Wheeler would like to change from the motorsports beer and liquor license so they can sell at all events and not just at races. Spoke to the State of Michigan Liquor commission about getting a license for this. Middlebury Township has one available at this time. Would like the board to approve Owosso Speedway Events and Activities, LLC to get this license. This wouldn’t allow fans to bring in alcohol any longer. Jamie asked how this would impact other businesses around our area as well as the impact of affordability for residents. Jill Ruess made a motion to approve the liquor license for Owosso Speedway, Michael Herendeen seconded the motion. Jill Ruess made a motion to approve the Spirits License for Owosso Speedway. Michael Herendeen seconded the motion. City of Ovid master plan-Planning Commission meetings are the first Monday of the month at 7pm. Middlebury elects to receive notification electronically. 6. Earned sick time. Will check with BSA to see if there is a way to track this in BSA. 7. MTA annual conference, is anyone interested in going? March 31-April 3, 2025 in Grand Rapids 8. Township Investments. Jill went to a conference and learned that our CD’s are only insured up to 250k Jill spoke to the bank and they recommended that we move some of our money to the ICS account. There is no risk, it does have fraud protection. Increases insurance protection to 271 million Old Business: 1. Driveway acquisition. Spicer survey markers need to be returned. G. Ruess follow up them. Gene noticed they did add orange ribbon to some of the markers but does not think that they have pulled the markers. Office Manager- SOP Cemetery done, working on office procedures. Absent can remove from next meeting.
